て-Form of Na-Adjectives

Mini Lecture!

The て-form of です is で.

At least, you can think of it that way.

Accordingly, the て-form for na-adjectives and nouns is で.

熱心 (ねっしん) is a good na-adjective to know. It means something like "enthusiastic."

真面目 (まじめ) is another useful one. It means something like "serious" or "diligent."

Thus...

ブレットは熱心な生徒です。
ブレット は ねっしんな せいと です。
Brett is an enthusiastic student.
Literally: "Brett + は + enthusiastic + student + です."

ブレットは真面目な生徒です。
ブレット は まじめな せいと です。
Brett is a serious student.
Literally: "Brett + は + diligent / serious + student + です."

ブレットは熱心真面目な生徒です。
